The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Alumni Association practically ceased to function after the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991. Only as late as 2000 it resumed its activity with the support of the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation Miguel Anhel Pimentl who headed the organization. The alumni decided that, at the new stage of the Association's existence, it was important to revise the outdated Charter and elect a new Governing Council.

The launch of a small library of fiction and scientific literature in Russian, French and Spanish became an important step in the Association's activity. Another one was, doubtless, publishing of the Post-AESEPAS newspaper in Russian and Spanish which seeks to provide information to the alumni from Russia and the RF nationals on the activity of the Association and the RF Consulate in the Dominican Republic, major events related to Russia and thus prompt the readers to establish ties between Russia and the Dominican Republic.

The Association, jointly with the RF Consulate, set up the Center for Slav Culture which offers Russian language courses and hobby classes in Russian national dances, handy crafts, music and literature.
